North West Mounted Police
Dusty Rivers, a Texas Ranger ("Isn't that a contradiction in terms?" another character asks), travels to Canada in the 1880s to find Jacques Corbeau, who is wanted for murder. He finds himself in the midst of the Riel Rebellion, in which Métis (people of French and Native ancestry) and Natives are fighting for their own country. Dusty falls in love with April Logan, a nurse who is also a fan of Mountie Jim Brett. April's brother is romantically involved with Courbeau's daughter Louvette, which causes complications during the battles between the rebels and the Mounties. Dusty is adamant about bringing Corbeau back to Texas despite everything (and April, too, if he can manage it.)
