Henri 4
A broad period-piece since he goes to the beloved King Henri IV of France, tracing the rise of the Protestant Henry of Navarre. Director Jo Baier's epic is actually a adventure, albeit one with more than only just a small bloodshed and frequent bawdy interludes. At war, Protestant Huguenots and Catholics were in overdue France. Apparently seeking peace, the dowager queen, Catherine de Medici summons Henry for her daddy to have him marry her daughter, uniting both warring factions. Nevertheless, that the Catholics slaughter the Protestant wedding guests in what is known as the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre and Henry-now married-must utilize all of his guile to stay alive and move for that throne.
